Good morning!
I hope you're both doing okay!?
If there are any problems at all with the work, please do get in touch with the school and I will help where I can!
Here's what we're going to be working on today:
Maths

WALT: Write a recount of an event during the Summer Holidays
We didn't get as far as you might have done in class and so we need another lesson on writing a chapter summary. If you need more time on this activity, then please do go ahead and finish it like we are in class.
If you need something new, then I would like for you to choose something that you did during the Summer Holidays and write a recount text about it.
Tell me everything about it including: What you did; what you could see; what you could feel/touch/smell; what you thought about the day/event; how you felt during your chosen time.
Make sure you write in the past tense, in chronological order (time order) and use paragraphs.
History
WALT: Locate the Ancient Greek Empire and explain why the Empire expanded
Begin by watching this video . There are a lot of complicated words in here but I would really like for you to focus on the part from 1 minute to 1 minute and 24 seconds. This will explain why the Greeks needed to expand. There are some more tricky words in here so I will try to explain them
arable land - land that you can easily grow crops on
maritime trade routes - trade routes across the sea to other countries and cities
The first thing that I would like you to do is to write a very short explanation about why the Greeks needed to expand their empire.
Next, I would like for you to look at this Map (use the 1 star map) of the Greek Empire. Compare it to this map where you can see all the names of the places and seas. See if you can label the place names correctly. Then shade the part in Green. This is the Greek Empire conquered by Alexander the Great.

WALT: Solve friendship problems
People sometimes call into television programmes or radio shows or write into magazines or websites with problems that they’d like some help or advice with. Today we’re going imagine that we’re working on an advice show on the radio.
Activity
We’re going to look at some friendship problems and think about what advice to give. For each problem we need to think about these things. Here are the problems.
- Does this sound like a positive, healthy friendship?
- Does it sound like a balanced friendship?
- What advice can we give that is respectful and assertive?
