Here are some English Tasks for the next 2 days:
WALT: Plan a descriptive chapter.
In English this week, we have been writing our own version of one of the scenes from Clockwork.
Here are some of the scenes you might like to choose from:
- Fritz tells the story and Doctor Kalmenius arrives
- Gretl comes downstairs in the middle of the night
- Prince Otto arrives home dead with Prince Florian in the sledge
- The physician cuts open the chest of Prince Otto to find clockwork inside
- Sir Ironsoul approaches Karl
- Prince Otto goes to Doctor Kalmenius to give Prince Florian his heart
- The journey to Doctor Kalmenius where Baron Stelgratz sacrifices himself.
Have a think about which scene you would like to do and then use this planning sheet to help you to plan you own version of the chapter.
WALT: Write a descriptive chapter
Now that you've planned your story, I would like for you to write it.
Remember what we have worked on over the last few weeks:
- Building tension through description
- Using multi-clause sentences
- Punctuating multi-clause sentences accurately
- Using colons and semi-colons to mark clauses
- Use of expanded noun phrases for description
- Use of figurative language (onomatopoeia, metaphor and simile)
Now it's your turn! See what you can come up with!
I will upload 2 more writing based activities for History and Science shortly to keep you going until the holidays!
