Good morning everyone!
Here are your tasks for today!
This morning in maths we're going to be doing an assessment so here is some revision for you of some things that we have covered so far. Practise and revision is always useful!
Maths:
WALT: Use the order of operations
I would like for you to have another go at the order of operations today. There are 2 lessons here that will go over how to calculate using the order of operations and then there is another lesson to consolidate your learning and push you on a little further.
English
Begin by practising your spellings on Spelling Shed
WALT: Precise a text
Today we are going to be finishing off our secret stories and then moving on to looking at a new story in class. As you can't finish your stories (because you don't have your books), you can skip straight to the new story!
It's called Hurricane and you can read it here
Once you have finished, I would like for you to read it again, this time make some notes about what the key events are as you read.
Then I would like you to precise the text - precise is a fancy word for summarise. So can you please write a summary of what happens in Hurricane.
Reading
Please complete the vocabulary lesson (if you haven't already) and 2 more of your reading lessons.
Science
WALT: Research micro organisms
Begin by looking at this website for some general information about microorganisms
Then have a look at this PowerPoint presentation that gives you some more information about micro organisms and how some can be helpful and some can be harmful. Read to slide 11. Then I would like for you to make a poster about the helpful and harmful microorganisms.
History
WALT: Devise a battle plan
Following on from yesterday's lesson where you ordered the events of the Battle of Marathon, I would like for you to write the battle plan for your Athenian army captains!
Begin by reading the PowerPoint again and focus on slide 11. Here it tells you what General Miltiades planned. Focus on putting the strongest hoplites (soldiers) on the flanks (at the sides) and running quickly to get past the arrows from the archers!
Write a set of orders to your generals and include a diagram so that they know what it will look like!
