Thursday 21st October

Good morning Class 6!

I will see you nice and early at 8.20 but here are your tasks for the day:

Maths:

Please begin by spending some time on Times Table Rock Stars

WALT: Use mental calculations and estimation

The video is here

The worksheet is here

The answers are here

English

Use Spelling Shed for 15 minutes

WALT: Plan a sequel to Hurricane

Yesterday you read through the story Hurricane and wrote a summary of it.

The story ends with a mystery...what will happen to the second tree? Will it fall as well? If it does, will they get to keep it this time?

Today I would like you to plan the sequel to Hurricane. Begin by describing the storm at night, move on to what happens when the boys wake up, and then what happens with the newly fallen tree? Most importantly, what happens to Hannibal the cat!! 😱😱😱

Use this sheet to help you to plan.

If you have time, make a comic strip of what will happen in your story, try to recreate the amazing images that show David and George's imaginary adventures!

Reading

Use Reading Plus and complete 2 reading lessons

Science

WALT: Plan and set up an experiment

Today you are going to continue thinking about microorganisms. We are going to set up an experiment!

Make sure that you're on one of the Zoom meetings so that I can talk you through how the experiment is going to work.

For parents preparing in advance, you are going to need 2 slices of bread and 2 containers to hold them in.

We will plan the experiment using this sheet here

We will set up the experiment so that you can observe it over half term!

PE

Have a look at this lesson from Oak Academy. It is all about developing balance and coordination when playing invasion games like basketball. Make sure you have a ball ready and some space to move...also a wall that you're allowed to bounce the ball off of 😬.
