Wednesday 15th September

 Good morning!

I hope you're all okay! Not long to go now!

Here are your tasks for today!

Maths

WALT: Round to any number

Begin with Day 7 of Flashback 4

The video you need is here

The worksheet is here

And here are the answers

English

WALT: Use accurate speech punctuation

Today we are going to be practising using speech in our writing. Begin by looking at this PowerPoint and then have a look at this video

Using these rules, I would like for you to write a conversation between Albert and his father. It can be about anything you like: Joey, the war, Albert's mother, the farm...anything!

When you have finished, use the rules in the PowerPoint again and check all of your speech to make sure that you have punctuated it properly!

CPSHE

WALT: Be assertive

Most people, at some point, have felt under pressure to do something dangerous or unhealthy. Something that makes them feel uncomfortable, anxious or that they believe is wrong.

Most people overcome this pressure most of the time. They do this by being assertive.

Being assertive means - When someone stands up for themselves but they don’t use force, hurt people or hurt their feelings.

Assertive behaviours include making sure that you:

  • Stand firm
  • Speak clearly
  • Be friendly and polite
  • Stay calm
  • Look confident (relaxed body and arms)
  • Negotiate
  • Repeat your ideas ('stuck cd' technique)
  • Relaxed body language
  • Make eye contact when you speak
  • Walk away if necessary - but as a friend
  • Smile
  • Don’t get personal

Your task today is to make a being assertive advice poster. Choose some of the things you think are the most important on the list above and then include them in your poster! make it big, bright and bold to help remind you and others to be assertive but to be nice while you're doing it!

History

WALT: Order the events of the Greek Empire on a Time line

To begin with, we are going to order the events of the Greeks on a timeline. The Ancient Greeks were around for a very long time and before Jesus was born.

All of the years before Jesus was born are called BC or Before Christ. If we count when Jesus was born as the year 0, the further back in time we go, the bigger the number gets. For example: The year before Jesus was born is 1BC (1 Year Before Chris) 10 years before Jesus was born is 10BC. The further back in time you go, the bigger the numbers get.

When looking at your timeline, you need to begin with the biggest number BC and travel forward in time getting smaller.

When you have finished that, choose one of the events and research it on the internet, taking notes on what happened.
