Good afternoon everyone!
I hope you survived the heat okay! We were roasting in school. It was so hot!!
Here is this week's story from our friends from Open the Book - An important meal:
An important meal
As I mentioned, the date on today's work is wrong and so is the title of the maths....someone needs to check and edit their work 😶😱.
Having said that, the work is all correct so there's that at least.
Friday 26th June
Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.
See you next week!

P.S. - I've seen that the dates have been wrong on some of the days...not sure how I managed that but Thursday's is correct. WARNING: Friday's won't be correct and there's a really long and boring explanation as to why it'll take so much time to change so I'm going to stick with I'm sorry, but the work is correct🙈

Monday 21st June
Hi Class 6!
I hope that you all had a great weekend.
For the next couple of weeks, we have agreed in school that we will go back to doing some English and Maths. Because of getting ready for SATs (in a normal year), we have to cover the entire Year 6 curriculum by May - which we have done. Normally in this after SATs period we would be focusing specifically on problem solving and applying our maths. However, because we've missed so much practise of key skills, we have decided in school that all year groups will focus on these skills in preparation for next year. For you, I have decided that we will begin with revising fractions. The activities that I have prepared include fluency questions as well as reasoning and problem solving questions.
I know that some of you will find some of this (mostly the fluency part) fairly straight forward, therefore I will plan in some extra, challenging activities for you that will involve a lot of thinking which you can find on the sheets that I prepare for you.
In the afternoons, we are going to be thinking about Geography and we are starting with the different types of settlement.

Burglary Reported!
Ms Bircumshaw expressed concern that her laptop contained detailed notes on an upcoming publication that she fears was the motivation for the theft. She explained that her ‘encrypted’ password was hidden high on the wall behind books on a shelf, but that the books had been moved, leading her to believe that the password was seen by the thief.
CCTV shows the suspect dressed in a t-shirt and jeans with a hat covering their head. A clear identification cannot be made. The suspect’s t-shirt and trousers appeared to change colour depending on the camera used. Witnesses describe the clothes as turquoise, yellow and bright pink at various times.
Witness sightings of the suspect’s shadow suggest they were anything from 5ft 11 to 9ft 8. One witness said that they saw an odd shape on the shadow, which they described as being the shape of a car ‘rear view’ mirror on a stick, but are not sure.
We have CCTV footage of a small beam of light being shone into the gymnasium of the school late evening on the 8th April 2016. This beam was trained on three specific points of the wall below the window through which we believe the suspect made their entry. External CCTV footage shows a figure shining a torch through a hole in the exterior wall, once on tip toes, once standing normally and once on their knees. This footage is hazy and the suspect cannot be identified, or key height established, as a result.
Your task this week is to conduct a range of scientific experiments to eliminate suspects and work out who the perpetrator of this hideous crime.
Here are your first case files to help you to crack the case:
Initial case files and experiments
Good luck, team!

Pittville School Letters
To those of you going to Pittville in September,
Some children from your new secondary school have written letters to you to give you an idea of what to expect when you start in September!
They asked if I could read them out to you, which is difficult right now because we're all apart so I thought that I would put them on the blog for you to look at:
Pittville Letters
What a nice idea and so thoughtful of the children from your new school! Have a read of these letters when you get a chance as it might answer some of the questions that you may have.

Updates!
Hi everyone!
Sorry blog posts are a little less frequent at the moment. It's a bit busier with some of you being back in school.
Here are some important updates for you.
First of all we have some art work from Kashyap and Poppy. They have both created some fantastic pieces which obviously took a lot of time and effort. Well done!!!
Also, a shout out to Poppy's mum who has got in on the arts week action . Looks great Mrs F! 💪
Here we have Freddie (and Harry) taking some time out to relax and read in the pool. Looks like a very mindful experience.

Here's Henry who has been on a fishing trip (his first one). Look how proud he is of his catches and so he should be! Super job, Henry! Fish and chips on you tomorrow, yes? Okay cool!! 🐟🍟
It's great to see Henry learning something new during his time in lockdown. This was one of our 5 steps to well-being and I bet he felt great after a day by the river!
Grace will be serving up dessert tomorrow as she's been making pancakes today! She tells me that this is one of (if not her absolute) favourite breakfasts. I have to say that I agree, Grace! Key question is though...what do you have with them? Bacon and maple syrup for me 😋
And finally AJ wanted me to share with you that she has become an auntie again!!!! Congratulations to AJ and to her brother and his partner. Her name is Ivy and she was born on 8/6/20. Welcome to the world (and more importantly to the Class 6 blog) Ivy!! You're lucky to have such a nice auntie who will look after you. I'm sure you'll all agree with me that she's super cute!
Hope you're all having a good Wednesday!

Dear children and parents, this week we would have been having Science week at Holy Apostles and we would have attending the Cheltenham Science Festival and taking part in lots of Science activities in school. We will be having a Science focus the week after next but you may be aware the Cheltenham Science Festival has gone live online this week, so we thought you may want to take a look at what’s on offer.
Here is the link.
In addition to this there is a link for free resources https://fun-science.org.uk/cheltenham
We will include links to Cheltenham Science Festival during our Science Week also.
